He went to Heaven on May 10, 2019 at the age of 48. Chris was born in Johnson City, TN, the first-born son to Gary and the late Phyllis Birchfield. He met the love of his life, Kathy Henley, in July of 2002, and they were married in October 2004. One year later, his pride and joy, Philip, was born in October 2005. Chris graduated from Tusculum College in May 2011 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Organizational Management. He worked for Tele-Optics and later for the Johnson City Medical Center in the Audio Visual Department. He won a Servant’s Heart Award at work in 2017 for going above and beyond in his care for others. Chris never met a stranger, cared for people, and was a selfless giver of his time and talents. He liked fishing with friends, playing and watching basketball with Philip, and helping others. He loved the Lord and going to church, and spending time with his family. Chris touched everyone who came in contact with him and he had a cheerful smile for all.
He was the best person one could ever have the blessing of knowing.
Chris is preceded in homecoming by his mother Phyllis Birchfield; maternal grandparents, John and Melodae Morrell; paternal grandparents, John and Virginia Birchfield; great uncles Jim Clark and Carl Denton; second cousin, Paul Birchfield; and mother-in-law, Ruth Henley.
