She was born in the Cadet section of Big Stone Gap, Va., and lived most of her life in Appalachia. Lucy was a retired phlebotomist with Wise ARH, with 24 years of service. She also retired from Frontier Health, with 14 years of service. She was a member of the U. S. Steelworker’s Union. Lucy was a member of the Lonesome Pine Chapter Order of Eastern Star #134 and Big Stone Gap O. E. S. #157. She was a member of the Appalachia Lions Club. She was a lifelong member of Appalachia Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jackson “Andy” Taylor, Sr.; her parents, Hugh Yeary and Ethel (Collins) Yeary Flanary; and brothers, Carl Yeary, Alvin Yeary and Dewey Yeary.
Surviving is one son Andrew Taylor, Jr. of Kingsport, Tn; two daughters, Dianah (Chuck) Baird and Sabrina Taylor, both of Appalachia, seven grandchildren, Chelsea Taylor, Madison Baird, Julie Kennedy, Ryan Baird, Amber Baird, Abigail Buchanan and Hannah Hampton; one great grandson, Jackson Kennedy; sister, Jewel Carter of East Stone Gap, Va.; brother, Roy E. (Wanda) Yeary of Woodbridge, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2:00 P.m. on Saturday (January 12, 2019) at the Appalachia Pentecostal Church (340 Oak Street) in Appalachia, Va.
An Order of the Eastern Star Funeral service will be conducted just prior to the funeral service.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.m. in the church sanctuary with Dr. Roy Smith and Pastor Grayson Cotheron officiating.
Committal services will follow at the American Legion Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, Va.
Pallbearers will be, Ryan Baird, David Carter, Steven Cline, Andrew Cline, Jimmy Fillmore, Gary Williams, and Brian Ball.
