Winnie was born on February 16th, 1929 to the late Russell Haynes and Hessie Mullins Haynes. Winnie was a devoted Christian and enjoyed traveling the area singing with her gospel group, The Gospel Lights, until her health no longer allowed.
Winnie loved her God, family and friends. She loved being outside, working in her garden and was a strong believer in hard work. She loved raising flowers, both inside her home and outside. She loved Sunday dinners with family. She loved children and babies.
Winnie is preceded in death by her husband Tenil Mullins and her son Dr. Gregory Mullins; 6 brothers, Alonzo Haynes, Landan Haynes, Marlin Haynes, Clint Haynes, Wick Haynes and Tilden Haynes; 8 sisters, Dolly Hibbitts, Joyce Willis, Estelle Mullins, Helen Hawkins, Rachel Haynes, London Rose, Grace Caldwell and Julie McFall.
Survivors include 2 sons, Rodney Mullins, and wife Brenda of Prattville, AL, and Gary Mullins and wife Monica of Clintwood; 3 daughters, Audrey Powers and husband, Roger of Pound, VA, Judy Hobson and husband John of Lebanon, VA, Cathy Mullins and Joey of Clintwood and widowed daughter-in-law, Iris Mullins of Christiansburg, VA; 2 sisters, Minnie Phipps of Clintwood, Augusta Fleming and husband Cecil of Kingsport, TN; 1 brother, Tollie Haynes and wife Georgia of Rustburg, VA; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins; special caretakers and friends , Rena Potter and Brenda Fleming.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Clintwood Funeral Home in Clintwood. Visitation will begin at 5 PM on Thursday, January 10th. A service will follow at 7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 11th, at 11 AM. A graveside service and burial will be held after the funeral at Mullins Cemetery on Pine Creek in Clintwood.
Pallbearers are Aaron Mullins, Jarrod Hobson, Stephen Stanley, Lee Sturgill, Larry Mullins, Tenil Mullins, Roger Powers, and Zackary Mullins. Honorary pallbearers are John Hobson, Greyson Chester, Michael Stapleton, Triston Cox, Braydon Cox, Mason Stanley, Matthew Stanley,Jaxon Sturgill, Randall Rose and Stan Austin.
