Robert “Bob” David Wright

KINGSPORT - Robert “Bob” David Wright, 81, of Kingsport, went home to be with Jesus on Monday morning (December 3, 2018) following a massive stroke. 

Bob was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John C. Wright.  He was retired as a contractor and in his spare time enjoyed being an artist, watching NASCAR and old westerns.  Bob was especially an avid football fan.  He was of the Baptist faith.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his six brothers and one sister. 

Bob Wright is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley Wright; a son, Douglas “Doug” Wright and wife, Pam; grandsons, Shawn Wright and wife, Shawnah and Benjamin “Ben” Robinson and wife, Christy; great grandchildren, Easton, Evie, Haley, and Emma.  Also survived by his sisters, Virginia Wright, Brenda Stephens, and Carolyn Gilliam; sisters-in-law, Barbara Hughes and Peggy McMurray along with several nieces, nephews, dear friends, neighbors.

A visitation will be held on Thursday (December 6, 2018) from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence.  A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Lew Kizer and Pastor Will Shewey, officiating. 

A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3/# 265 Color Guard on Friday (December 7, 2018) at 1 p.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery.  Shawn Wright, Ben Robinson, Scotty McMurray, Clarion Peters, Marty Hughes, Roger Quillen will be serving as pallbearers.  Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 p.m.
