Bobby Ray “B. R.” Stidham

BIG STONE GAP, VA - Bobby Ray “B. R.” Stidham, 78, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his home.

“B. R.,” as he was affectionately known, lived most of his life in Big Stone Gap. Bobby was a Virginia State Trooper for 17 years and was a conductor for Norfolk-Southern Railroad for 30 years. He loved to golf and spend time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy (McKinney) Stidham; a daughter, Lisa Renee Stidham; and his parents, Wiley and Ruth (Duncan) Stidham.

Surviving are his daughter, Kimberly (Larry) Amos, Dryden, VA; Shawn (Nikki) Jones of Big Stone Gap; great granddaughters, Leah Gentry and Savannah Amos; great-great granddaughter, Anna Gentry; sister, Eula Hughes of Coeburn, VA and nephews, Jimmy Hughes and Mark Hughes.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 12th at Gilliam Funeral Home (618 Wood Ave., W.) in Big Stone Gap. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Darrell Bolling officiating. Inurnment graveside services will follow at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
