Her beloved brother, Charles, and her special companion, Charley Lewis, were at her side. Martina was born on October 3, 1944 to the late Jack and Oliva Mabelitini of Liggett, KY in Harlan County Kentucky.
She attended public schools until fifth grade, when she transferred to the Holy Trinity Catholic School in Harlan, KY. She graduated from 8th grade at Holy Trinity and attended and graduated from Hall High School in 1963. While in High School, Martina participated in numerous extra curricular activities, among which she served as secretary to her class, worked on the school newspaper, and was co-editor of the yearbook. Throughout her life Martina continued to serve wherever she saw the need-in her family, among her friends, and anyone who needed a helping hand. She had a joyous generous heart and all who knew her were drawn into that joy and loving generosity. Martina worked at various jobs throughout her working career culminating in becoming a licensed insurance agent and working with her late husband, R. C. Shelton, in his Nationwide Insurance business in Pennington Gap, VA.
Martina was member of the First United Methodist Church in Pennington Gap, VA. She loved her Lord and always sought to do his will. She loved her church family and was a generous donor.
Martina was preceded in death by her late husband, R.C."Snook" Shelton; her parents, the late Jack, Sr. and Oliva Mabelitini, sisters, Delores Mabelitini, Rena Cox, by her brother, Jackie Mabelitini, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her sisters, Marie Casto (Richard) Mims, FL, Cathy Spencer, Titusville, FL, Regina Cole, Frankfort, KY., Teresa Dooley, Daphne, AL., and beloved brother Charles Mabelitini (Sandy) Evarts, KY., and numerous nieces, nephews and very special great nephews, Tommy and James Parker, Fairhope, AL., and her faithful special companion, Charley Lewis, of Harrisburg, PA. Our family is deeply appreciative of the loving and devoted care Charley gave Marti during her struggle with ALS. We are, also, deeply appreciative to all the loving care given by Nina Black, Jackie Harber, Carlisha Cox, Sarah Goins and Sherry Meyers. We express our gratitude to Dr. Couch and her staff and to Paula Audia, her home health nurse and all others who may have assisted Marti during her illness.

Visitation for Marti will be held at First United Methodist Church of Pennington Gap, VA, 41880 E. Morgan Avenue, Pennington Gap,VA., beginning at 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 8, 2018. Services will follow with Pastor Kyle Burnette officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway. Pallbearers will be friends and family of Marti.
