DUFFIELD, VA - J.P. Hill, age 85 of Duffield, VA passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at his residence.
He was born in Mabe, VA on March 3, 1933 and was the son of the late Charles Hill Sr. and Lovely Mae Stanley Hill. Other than his parents James was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Kate Bishop Hill; sister, Ella Mae Edens and a son, James Hill Jr. Mr. Hill was a Christian and was an honest, hardworking, and a kind hearted man. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was later employed by Harris Trucking as a truck driver.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Patricia Hill and Gloria Jean Frazier; 5 sons, Johnny, Steve, Brian, Timothy Sr. and Jason Hill; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Betty Sturgill, Patsy Carter, and Rosa Qualls; brothers, Charles Hill Jr, L.D.Hill and Billy Hill, also several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 5 to 7 PM at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Weber City, VA. Funeral service will follow at 7 PM.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the Hill’s Cemetery, Ravens Hollow Rd. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 11:45 AM to follow in procession.
