Cecil Haskel Kern

Cecil Haskel Kern, age 94, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center. 

He was a native of Scott County, VA and lived in Kingsport for almost 52 years.   Cecil worked for the City of Kingsport where he retired after 22 years.  He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Alley Kern; 5 brothers; 3 sisters; and an infant son and infant daughter.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Gladys Estep Kern; son, Rick Kern of the home; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating.  Music will be by the Salyers Family.

The graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at Holston View Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be JC Martin, Larry Coomer, H.R. Canipe, Chris Ball, Paul Belcher and Jason Jarvis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church, 201 Stadium Dr., Kingsport, TN 37664.

The family wishes to thank Advanced Home Health Care, and the hospice doctors and nurses at Holston Valley Medical Center for the care they gave Cecil during his illness.
