Virgie E. Fletcher

BIG STONE GAP, VA/TORRANCE, CA - Virgie E. Fletcher (Nee Quesenberry), born in Wise County, VA on March 6, 1921, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018. 

The youngest of three children, she is preceded in death by her parents, James E. & Ethel (Skeens) Quesenberry; two older siblings, James Alfred Quesenberry and Luella Quesenberry Pitcher, and nephew, James A. Quesenberry, Jr.  Married to Kelly C. Fletcher in 1945, they were together for sixty years, until his death at age 85 in March, 2006.  Mr. & Mrs. Fletcher lived in Norton, VA when first married, then lived in Lakewood, Ohio most of their married life, returning to Big Stone Gap, VA after their retirement in 1976.  They moved to Torrance, CA in December 2004 to be near their only child, D. Christine Hach and her husband, Gregory E. Hach. 

Virgie Fletcher is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sylvia Zirkle of East Stone Gap, VA and many nephews, nieces, and their families.

She was remembered at a service in Torrance, CA on June 13, 2018 conducted by Pastor Hosier of Torrance First Baptist Church. 

Her Homecoming will be at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave. W., Big Stone Gap, VA on Saturday, June 16, 2018.  Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm, with the Funeral Service in the chapel conducted by Pastor Ron Leach at 1:00pm.  Interment will be immediately following the service at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Powell Valley Rd, Big Stone Gap, VA.

The family is grateful for the love, support, and prayers of family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you pay your respect with your thoughts, prayers, and gentle kindness shared with others.
