Her strength, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through the past four months. Even throughout her own battle with cancer, she continued to touch so many with her smile, laughter, and compassion.
Debbie was a loving mother, an incredible big sister, the best Mimi, and a beautiful, strong daughter. Debbie found her true passion when she began her career as a pediatric nurse. She lived to care and love on those around her, especially children. Debbie loved to dance, listen to the blues and rock ’n roll, sit by the ocean with feet in sand until sundown, plant and grow the most beautiful flowers, and spend every moment in the sunshine.
Possessing a true servant’s heart, Debbie faithfully cared for her family, friends, patients, coworkers, strangers, and all those she encountered. A true woman of faith, she touched the lives of so many beyond what she could ever know. The family would love for attendees to bring a written memory of Debbie to share. She requested her body be donated to science in hopes to save someone else from this horrible disease, just another profound example of her selfless longing to help others.
Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling and laughter will never be forgotten.
Those left to cherish her memories include her parents, Richard and Goldie McCroskey; son, Travis McKinney, and wife, Emily, of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Desiree McKinney, and fiancé, José Russell, of Chattanooga, TN; one and only granddaughter whom she treasured, Adalynn Ann McKinney; two sisters, Teresa (John) Beverly of Abingdon, VA; Lisa (Jeff) Mink of Bristol, VA; loving boyfriend and partner whom loved and cherished her dearly, Greg Lane of Bristol, VA; and many special nieces and nephews.
