Rowena Lee Vermillion Fisher

Rowena Lee Vermillion Fisher passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was 83 years old.  

Rowena was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Alpha Vermillion; her son, Archie Wade Fisher; and husband, John Fisher.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Sapp, Anna and husband, Michael "Mouse" Edwards, Janet Sapp and Michael Davidson, Mary Sapp, and James Sapp; grandchildren, Heather Dougherty, Michael Hertling, Michael Davidson, Jenia Cross, and Chris Sapp; ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Rowena was a very kind soul who never met a stranger. Her hobbies included yard sales, bargain hunting, and collecting tools. She was a friend to Marsh Regional Blood Bank and donated seven plus gallons of blood in her lifetime.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2:00PM at Midway United Methodist Church (5532 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Gate City, VA 24251). 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.  

The family would like to thank Dr. Todd Cassel and his staff, Nova Nursing Home, Caris Healthcare, and her granddaughter, Heather Dougherty, who helped care for her for the last three years.
