Shortly after 1 p.m. on June 22, officers with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about a shooting behind a home in the 1500 block of Pleasant Grove Road, Bluff City. When officers arrived, they found the victim in a wooded area with a gunshot wound in his back.
The victim had been shot in the back and was left in the woods for at least an hour and a half. He couldn't move his legs and had crawled through the woods yelling for help. When his parents arrived home from church, they heard the victim and called police.
The victim allegedly told officers that his wife, Misty Addair, 32, Pleasant Grove Road, Bluff City, had shot him while they were checking a trail camera in the woods behind their home. Addair then left her husband in the woods and left the scene.
A be on the lookout (BOLO) alert was issued for Addair's vehicle. SCSO had information that she could be either be in Pigeon Forge on a planned trip or in West Virginia, where she has family. The victim was transported to Johnson City Medical Center, where he underwent surgery and remains in serious condition.
Addair's vehicle was spotted in Sevierville at approximately 4 p.m. Officers with the Sevierville Police Department conducted a felony traffic stop on the vehicle and took Addair into custody. The couple's two children were located in the vehicle and were released to a family member.
Addair was transported back to Sullivan County and charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. Addair's bond has been set at $25,000.
