Kingsport police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspected car thief.

According to a press release, a 2003 Honda Pilot was stolen from a residence on Dobyns Drive in Kingsport. When the car was stolen, the doors were unlocked and the keys were in it. The car was located three days later in a parking lot, abandoned.

When the thief made off with the car, he stopped for gas at the Zoomers on the corner of Fort Henry Drive and Eastman Road.

A picture has been pulled from the footage and the entire video can be found below. If anyone recognizes the man in the video, they are asked to contact KPD Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.

KPD also warns citizens to never leave keys inside their vehicle and always lock the car. According to Tom Patton, Public Information Officer with the KPD, people don't do one of these two thing in a majority of car thefts reported to the department.
