KPD: Drunk woman arrested after firing gun in street

A Kingsport woman faces felony charges after allegedly exiting an apartment while angry and intoxicated, then randomly firing a handgun in the street.At approximately 10:30 Wednesday night police were alerted to a woman on Eastley Court who was, "walking down the road shooting a firearm." While en route, dispatch was notified the woman could possibly have been picked up by a truck.A Kingsport Police Department arrest report states a vehicle and woman matching the suspect's description were located behind nearby apartments. As the officer approached, Crystal A. Webster, 42, reportedly exited the vehicle and "appeared upset." She also allegedly emitted an odor of alcohol, had glassy eyes and talked in a "loud tone."When asked about the alleged firearm she yelled that she didn't have a gun. A man in the driver's seat of the pickup, according to police, said the weapon was no longer present because she had thrown it out of the window.Police say they found a revolver approximately 200 yards away. Burnt powder could reportedly be smelled coming from the gun, which contained four bullets and two spent shell casings. Webster then allegedly admitted to police that she had fired it twice.Police interviewed one of Webster's family members. The individual said Webster had arrived home, 449 Eastley Court, apartment 2, after being out drinking. An argument allegedly ensued, with Webster retrieving the gun from under a pillow and walking outside. Police soon received reports of shots fired in the street.Webster was arrested and charged with felony reckless endangerment, public intoxication and possession of a firearm by an intoxicated individuals.A separate police report says Webster became loud and disorderly at the jail, climbed on a concrete bench and acted as if she was going to attack a jailer. She was then sprayed in the face with pepper spray, at which point she calmed down and stated, "You got me."The incident in the jail prompted a charge of assault.
