CHURCH HILL — Hawkins County deputies made two recent unrelated drug possession arrests of motorists, both of whom were stopped after allegedly “crossing the center line” five times each.

According to a report filed by HCSO Deputy Josh Byrd, around 8:20 p.m. Saturday he observed a black 2002 PT Cruiser traveling westbound on Highway 11-W in Church Hill cross the center line five times, at which time he conducted a traffic stop near the Elm Springs Road intersection.

The driver, Hillary Nicole Carver, 33, 168 Flatwood Lane, Rogersville, admitted that her license was suspended from Kentucky, and a computer check revealed she was also wanted in Hawkins County on a previous DUI warrant.

A search of Carver’s purse allegedly revealed her to be in possession of one oxycodone pill, two subutex pills, a syringe and a metal spoon.

She was charged with DUI, driving on a suspended license, driving left of center, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule II narcotics, and possession of Schedule III narcotics.

She was being held in the Hawkins County Jail on $20,000 bond pending her arraignment Monday in Sessions Court.

In an unrelated case, shortly before midnight Thursday, Deputy Zachary England allegedly observed a 1989 Volvo traveling east on Carters Valley Road cross the center line five times within approximately one mile.

England stopped the Volvo at the Payne Ridge Road intersection.

He said the driver, Nicholas Hunter Jones, 20, 110 Stephens Drive, Rogersville, was “nervous” and had “red bloodshot eyes.”

“When asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, he advised there were four morphine tablets under his seat,” England said. “He also said there was a marijuana pipe in the car.”

Jones was charged with possession of Schedule II narcotics, driving left of center and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on $2,500 bond and scheduled for arraignment Monday in Sessions Court.
