BLOUNTVILLE — Heavy speculation swirled through county government on Monday about what might, or might not, happen Tuesday at the Sullivan County Commission’s monthly meeting.

The official agenda appears relatively light: three pieces of “old business” and two items under “new business.”

But none of those things are likely to take the spotlight.

Potential changes in leadership posts are expected, by some, to take center stage.

The most talked about issue in Sullivan County government for the past week has been control and operation of the Sullivan County Highway Department.

It’s not on the agenda, but courthouse observers believe it is bound to come up.
