KINGSPORT — John King believes he has the components needed to repeat his 2012 winning performance at Daytona International Speedway, including experience, a top-notch crew chief, a fast truck and a burning desire to win.
Friday night at Daytona, the Kingsport native will take to the track at driving for NTS Motorsports, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team that won the pole at Daytona last year.
It’s an opportunity that could earn 25-year-old King several more Truck Series races this season. But for now he’s focused on one thing — bringing home another Daytona trophy.
“We’ve got some killer trucks,” King said. “They’re brand new pieces, and they are slick race trucks. I’ve got a good crew chief in Jeff Hensley, who has a ton of wins in the Truck series. He’s a decorated crew chief, he’s a perfectionist, and he knows his stuff.”
King currently has a one race deal for the Daytona race, driving the No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado with sponsorship from GunBroker.com.
