Kingsport City Schools Board of Education sets schedule of events for SCORE presentation

KINGSPORT – Kingsport City Schools Board of Education has set the schedule of events for Thursday, Feb. 6, in preparation of the State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE)’s Banner Presentation for being named a 2013 Tennessee SCORE Prize finalist.

Community members, leaders, teachers, parents, and students of Kingsport City Schools, selected as one of the best three public school districts in Tennessee for growth in student achievement, will be honored at a special presentation during the regularly scheduled board of education meeting on Feb. 6, at 6 p.m. located in the Tennessee Room at the KCS Administrative Support Center, 400 Clinchfield St., third floor, downtown Kingsport.

Schedule of events:

4 p.m. – Board of Education Meeting (part 1): Department Reports

5 p.m. – Community-wide Reception

6 p.m. – SCORE Banner Presentation and Board of Education Meeting (part 2): Recognitions and Business Items

The meetings, reception and presentation are open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.

The SCORE Prize, sponsored by the State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE), is the hallmark award for Tennessee public schools and districts that have made the greatest gains in student achievement.

Kingsport City Schools is a public school system located in Kingsport, Tenn., serving students in Sullivan and Hawkins county. The district is comprised of 13 schools, including a Pre-K, eight elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school and an alternative school; with total enrollment reaching 6,500 students.
