ROGERSVILLE — A Rogersville teen was arrested earlier this week after he allegedly slammed a door on his mom’s foot and then spat in the face of an arresting officer.

Monday evening, HCSO Deputy Gary Lawson was dispatched to the home of Donna Miller, 364 Colonial Road, Rogersville, on a domestic altercation complaint.

Miller stated that her son, Larry Allen Buttry, 19, same address, had punched the living room radio, and then took the phone book away from her while she was attempting to look up the number of Hawkins County Central Dispatch.

When Lawson arrived at the scene, Buttry was reportedly on the front porch holding a garden hoe and talking to Miller.

She reportedly told Buttry to speak to Lawson, but instead he ran back into the house, slamming the door on his mother’s foot in the process, which reportedly caused bruising.

“I then entered the residence and Mr. Buttry started fighting me when I tried to detain him,” Lawson stated in his report. “I then placed Mr. Buttry in hand restraints and escorted him to my patrol car. While placing Mr. Buttry in my car, Mr. Buttry started spitting in my face.”

Lawson added, “I then placed my right hand on Mr. Buttry’s jaw line and turned his head so he couldn’t spit on me. When I released his head Mr. Buttry tried to kick me, and spit on me again.”

Cpl. Shawn Williams, who responded to assist, administered a blast of pepper spray to Buttry, who then settled down.

He was charged with domestic assault, resisting arrest and assault on an officer.
