Nicholas C. Campbell, 21, of Mountain View Road, was located Sunday by the Bristol, Tenn., Police Department. He was arrested on a warrant for rape of a child and transported to the Sullivan County jail in Blountville.
Sullivan County Assistant District Attorney Emily Smith says the allegations against Campbell were brought to police in March. Detectives with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office began investigating the case, reportedly learning the incident occurred between December of 2012 and January of this year.
Findings of the SCSO investigation were presented to a Sullivan County grand jury, prompting a June indictment against Campbell.
Citing the victim's status as a minor, Smith declined to specify her age, or identify how she knows the suspect.
The charge, a class A felony, stipulates the victim is between 3 and 13-year-old.
A court date for Campbell has yet to be set. As of Monday morning he remained jailed in Blountville on a $100,000 bond.
