A small amount of marijuana was recovered from two men when officers responded to a call about drug activity in a parking lot, according to a police report.

Paul E. Tyndall, 48, 1125 Dorothy St., was charged with possession of schedule VI drug for resale within 1,000 feet of a city park. David Hayes, 28, 232 Cold Springs Road, Blountville, was charged with simple possession of a schedule VI drug and going armed.

On Aug. 15, vice detectives with the Kingsport Police Department were investigating a complaint about drug activity when the officers interrupted a drug deal in progress, the report said.

Tyndall and Hayes had pulled their vehicles beside each other and were allegedly conducting a drug deal. When officers searched the men, they found Tyndall to be in possession of 28 grams of marijuana and found Hayes in possession of nine grams of marijuana as well as a Taurus .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol.
