Kingsport family's brawl leads to stabbing

An argument between a Kingsport woman and her daughter allegedly escalated to attempted murder early Friday, when a Rutledge man stabbed his girlfriend's brother in the stomach.Kingsport police say the incident occurred shortly after midnight at 1355 Warpath Drive. A resident was engaged in an argument with her daughter, Ashley Kiser, 26, when her brother attempted to step in.Kiser is alleged to have then turned on the would-be mediator, according to police, grabbing her brother by the throat and punching him in the head and shoulders. When Kiser's boyfriend, Anthony J. Coffey, 23, became involved in the scuffle, it spilled out of the home and into the front yard.Police say Coffey retrieved a knife from his vehicle and stabbed Kiser's brother in the abdomen. Coffey is alleged to have attempted to stab the man a second time, but the victim blocked the blow and suffered a laceration to his elbow.Coffey and Kiser, both of Rutledge, fled the scene in a gray, 1997 Honda Accord, Tennessee tag H1959U. Kiser's mother took her brother to Holston Valley Medical Center for treatment.KPD Public Information Officer Tom Patton says Det. John McGee is obtaining warrants for the suspects.
