KINGSPORT — A man has been arrested for reportedly taking his girlfriend's children during a weekend domestic dispute, forcing Kingsport police to contact him several times before the children were located. An affidavit filed in Kingsport Court says Christopher Shawn Wilson, 23, of 1309 Mimosa Drive, was arrested late Sunday. Earlier in the day, Kingsport police were called by a resident of Model City Apartments, 1000 Stonegate Road. The woman identified Wilson as her boyfriend, saying a verbal argument between the pair turned physical and he grabbed her around the throat and choked her. He's also alleged to have slammed her head against a wall and knocked her to the ground. Wilson reportedly pulled the woman's 1-year-old daughter from her grasp, taking the child out of the apartment. An affidavit says the couple have never been married and he has no legal rights to the girl. Wilson reportedly then came back inside the residence and picked up the victim's son, age 4. Wilson is not the child's father. Wilson then allegedly left with the children, forcing Kingsport police to make "several requests" that he bring them back. KPD Public Information Officer Tom Patton says Wilson returned to the apartment with the 1-year-old while police were on the scene. The other child was located at the home of a relative. Wilson was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping and custodial interference.
