CHEROKEE, N.C. — Authorities are investigating the discovery of a man’s body in a creek near Harrah’s Cherokee Hotel and Casino in western North Carolina.

Cherokee Police Department spokeswoman Alica Wildcatt identified the man Monday as 84-year-old Robert Evans of Jonesborough. Wildcatt said no foul play is suspected.

Wildcatt said police responded to a report of the body in Soco Creek Monday morning. The creek runs beside the casino off U.S. 19.
