Founded in 2003 in Chanhassen, Minn., the personal fitness franchiser says it has more than 1,300 locations worldwide with some 15-20 new clubs added monthly.
Treadmills, weight machines, free weights and elliptical trainers are available at each club via electronic key entry so people can burn calories.
“The economy’s tough, but people still value their health,” Julian Hernandez, operator of Kingsport’s Snap Fitness, said in a prepared release. “I want to help by giving them more for their money and contributing to the health and quality of life in our community.”
The franchise has eliminated swimming pools and racquetball courts from its operations. A typical Snap Fitness installation ranges from 2,500 to 3,000 square feet.
Every member who joins the club receives a fitness score session with a personal trainer, along with a so-called “Basic 8” workout plan to help people get started. Members also receive access to their own personal web page at mysnapfitness.com, which has wellness tools and online workout tutorials and meal plans.
Members pay month-to-month and can easily cancel their gym memberships or put them on hold without penalty. There are no contracts.
To celebrate its grand opening, the club is offering a limited-time free enrollment offer.
