Gun pulled in dinnertime dispute, two arrested

The blotter is derived from recent central dispatch records and incident reports of area police agencies.Hawkins County Sheriff's OfficeJune 28A deputy responded to a harassment complaint on Mountain View Road, where a man claimed people go by, "flipping him the middle finger." When the suspects were interviewed they said the complainant "tries to stop them" as they pass his residence, and has threatened to break a 12-year-old's finger. Police took no action.Officers attempted to serve warrants on a man on River Road. Upon arrival the suspect was observed letting a dog into the residence, but he then shut and locked the door. After the suspect ignored multiple police commands they forced entry into the home, taking him into custody on the prior charges. He was additionally charged with evading arrest.June 30Two female neighbors in Bulls Gap each claimed to be harassed by the other. One said her neighbor came onto her property and hit her in the head. The other said she was trying to sleep when her neighbor began screaming and cussing. Police advised each of how to pursue private prosecution, if they wished to do so. Kingsport Police DepartmentJune 28Officers responded to a crash on Carters Valley Road, where a 20-year-old Kingsport man's pickup had crossed the center line. His vehicle then struck an SUV occupied by two people, both in their 80s. They were transported to the hospital for evaluation, while the man who caused the wreck was determined to be under the influence. Pills and a pipe containing marijuana residue were found in his possession, he was arrested on DUI, vehicular assault and other charges.Sullivan County Sheriff's OfficeJune 27Police were asked to check on a man sitting in the breezeway of a Kingsport apartment complex, surrounded by beer cans. A Waste Management trash can was stolen from a residence on Lone Star Road. Medication and money was reportedly stolen from a Kingsport home. The victim said the items had been stored inside a safe, which was sitting outside the residence.June 28A caller from Packing House Road claimed people were, "shooting fireworks and cussing each other."A suspicious man was reported at a fireworks stand in Blountville. The caller said he was in a port-a-potty with the doors locked, "making growling noises."June 29A third party called police to a residence off Forest View Road, claiming a man had pointed a gun at a female. The suspect told a responding deputy that the woman actually had the weapon, had been, "waving it around and cursing." The female refuted his account, saying he grabbed the gun and threatened to kill her over, "how fast she was cooking dinner." Police located the weapon under a T-shirt in a front room of the home, but could not determine a primary aggressor. Both were arrested and charged with aggravated assault.June 30A man on Bristol Caverns Highway advised his girlfriend is leaving the residence, but had first called someone to come and beat him up. Police ultimately determined no threats had been made, no assault had taken place.
