Driver extricated from dump truck crash in Kingsport

A dump truck driver was extricated from his vehicle and transported to the hospital after a Thursday afternoon crash on New Beason Well Road. The extent of his injuries was not known.

Kingsport police at the scene say the incident occurred at 2:15 p.m. The truck was traveling south along the 700 block, near the intersection with Lenoir Road, when the driver lost control.

The dump truck took out a guardrail, mailbox and retaining wall, then came to a stop after hitting a tree in the front yard of a residence.

The accident is under investigation with charges pending.
