The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. Sullivan County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Leslie Earhart says the man was riding with a group of other people when he lost control and hit a guardrail.
Though the rider was wearing a helmet when the incident occurred, Earhart said he suffered possible head and chest injuries.
EMS and the Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. An air transport helicopter landed at the nearby Jacobs Creek Job Corps to transport the victim, who has not been publicly identified.
He was airlifted from the area at 12:52 p.m. for treatment at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Additional details were not immediately available.
