A Johnson City physician was arrested Sunday on drug and weapon charges after he fled from a police traffic stop at high speed, according to a news release.

Police said Dr. Robert C. Allen, 63, 117 Brentwood Drive, was driving a black Chevrolet Avalanche in the vicinity of E. Fairview Avenue and Baxter Street when police tried to stop the vehicle.

Allen refused to stop and was able to elude police after reaching “dangerously high speeds” in a 30 mph zone, but another officer soon spotted him turning onto Brentwood Drive. The officer followed to 117 Brentwood, where Allen parked and ran inside his home, police said.
