ROGERSVILLE — A Rogersville woman dropping off eyeglasses for a jail inmate Monday night became an inmate herself after jailers allegedly found suboxone strips inside the earpieces of the glasses.

The jail received an anonymous tip Monday that someone would be dropping off eyeglasses for an inmate that would have suboxone in them.

Shortly after 10 p.m., Kelly Marie Seal, 24, 2013 Brown Drive, Apt. C118, Rogersville, arrived at the jail to drop off eyeglasses for inmate Cody Horner.

Jail Administrator Lt. Butch Gallion and Cpl. Jesse Williams inspected the glasses and allegedly located 2.5 8-mg suboxone strips inside the earpieces of the glasses.

Seals initially stated she had no knowledge of the suboxone strips.

The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit was then called in to investigate.

During an interview with Detective Jeff Hilton, Seals allegedly stated that her boyfriend Casey Bledsoe had instructed her to bring the drugs into the jail.

Seals also stated that she had been successful smuggling drugs into the jail several times in the past.

Seals was charged with possession of Schedule III narcotics with intent to deliver and introduction of a controlled substance into a penal facility.

As of Tuesday, she remained held in the Hawkins County Jail without bond pending arraignment Wednesday in Sessions Court.
