A Johnson City man charged with shooting and beating up a woman and leaving her lying in a parking lot last year has a new attorney and agreed to withdraw a motion asking the judge to withdraw.

Eric L. Parker, 48, is charged with attempted first-degree murder in the Feb. 14, 2012, incident that left a woman severely beaten.

He appeared before Washington County Criminal Court Judge Robert Cupp on Tuesday with a newly appointed attorney, Donna Bolton, who withdrew a motion Parker filed himself asking Cupp to step out of the case.

“He filed a motion pro se. I had an opportunity to speak to him and would like to strike that motion,” Bolton told the judge.
