Ryan Nathan Turner, 32, of Jonesville, was indicted on three felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor while in a supervisory relationship with that child and a single misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Authorities said Turner fostered a relationship with a young girl he coached before allegedly engaging in improper acts with her.
The Scott County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said it is prosecuting the case because several of the alleged acts took place in Scott County, where the victim lives.
The incidents in question allegedly occurred on several occasions between May 1 and June 30, 2012.
The charges Turner faces are considered felonies because authorities said he knew the alleged victim through his supervisory role as an assistant coach.
"Because of his role, the charge is heightened to a felony," Scott County Commonwealth's Attorney Marcus McClung said.
Lee County Public Schools administrators could not be reached for comment on Turner's indictment Monday afternoon. Lee County schools are currently out for spring break.
A LinkedIn profile under Ryan Turner's name had his current employment listed as a guidance counselor with the Lee County school system.
Turner also wrote on the profile that he was an assistant coach for the Lee High girls soccer team from 2010 to 2012.
