Gov. McDonnell’s office confirmed Thursday that he will be in attendance at the event.
Director of Communications Paul Logan said Gov. McDonnell will likely use the opportunity to discuss jobs, economic development and work his administration has done during the recent legislative session to make Virginia, including the state’s e-Region, more business friendly.
The visit is McDonnell’s first stop in Scott County since he was elected to office in 2010.
Scott County Chamber of Commerce President Stacy Ervin said the organization is looking forward to having the governor as their special guest.
“Scott County and the Chamber of Commerce are excited and honored to have the Governor as our keynote speaker,” Ervin said. “We appreciate Gov. McDonnell and his staff taking time out of their schedules to visit Scott County. A great turn out is anticipated, and we look forward to hearing the Governor’s remarks.”
In addition to the Governor’s remarks, Ervin said the dinner will feature entertainment, a buffet and program.
The Scott County Chamber’s “Distinguished Service Award” will also be presented during the event to an individual for who has shown dedication and made contributions to Scott County.
The 2012 dinner featured U.S. Rep. Morgan Griffith as the keynote speaker, while Virginia Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling spoke at the event in 2011.
Tickets to the 2013 dinner, which are limited and close to selling out, can be purchased for $25 each.
