William Ketron, 26, Rainbow Circle, Kingsport, was taken into custody on charges of assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest as a result of the incident.
Another man, Richard Ketron, 23, McNeil Street, Kingsport, was also arrested by officers responding to the call and charged with public intoxication.
According to authorities, the arrests were made after Scott County Central Dispatch received a report shortly before midnight Friday of a possible shooting and house fire at a residence located on Eaton Hill Road in the East Carters Valley section of the county.
Upon arrival, the officer dispatched to the scene reportedly saw William Ketron run out of the front door of the home toward him while yelling obscenities and threatening to fight if he didn’t leave the property.
The officer was reportedly forced to use pepper spray and a police baton to subdue and handcuff William Ketron after he ignored repeated verbal commands to stop and lie on the ground.
After his arrest, Richard Ketron allegedly told authorities that he and William Ketron had taken “five or six hits of LSD” that night and done cocaine.
Richard Ketron was reportedly arrested on a nearby road when a Virginia State Police trooper passed him on the way to the scene.
Shortly after the trooper arrived at the Eaton Hill Road home, authorities said they had to subdue Richard Ketron when he momentarily escaped from the back seat of the VSP cruiser while still handcuffed and ran toward the two officers working the call.
Authorities said they determined no shooting or fire had taken place after interviewing both men and the owner of the home. Authorities said the person who contacted 911 was apparently hallucinating when the call was made.
Both men were taken to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Duffield following their arrests.
