KPD seeks man accused of stealing, cashing parents' checks

Kingsport police are requesting the public's assistance in locating a theft and fraud suspect, accused of stealing his parents' checkbook and cashing six checks.

Gabriel Varney, 28, is charged with theft of more than $1,000, six counts of ID theft and six counts of forgery. KPD Det. Martin Taylor said Varney cashed six stolen checks at the Fort Sill Bank at Walmart on West Stone Drive, with amounts varying between $100 and $300. The incidents were reportedly captured by surveillance cameras.
