A woman hired to clean a Kingsport home has been arrested for allegedly stealing $5,000 in jewelry from the residence, with investigators believing she may have taken items from other homes she had access to.
Sarah Ann Crawford, 26, of 1822 Highland St., Kingsport, was arrested Wednesday afternoon. The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office reports she is charged with felony theft in connection to a November theft report on Millington Court.
The victim contacted police after discovering $5,000 in jewelry missing from her home. She reportedly named the suspect as Crawford, a woman hired to clean the residence.
SCSO detectives later found receipts and photos for the jewelry at a gold buying business in Kingsport, reportedly learning Crawford was the seller. Police say Crawford, who is facing similar charges in Washington County, Tenn., was employed by a small, locally owned cleaning business.
Anyone believing they may have been victimized by Crawford is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (423) 279-7500, extension 222.
