Tammy C. Catron, 48, of 932 Lane Drive, was taken into custody Thursday morning by Kingsport police and charged with aggravated assault. An affidavit filed in Kingsport court reports the incidents occurred at Catron's home, with police called to Franklin Woods Hospital in Johnson City to speak with the victim on Dec. 26.
The juvenile allegedly had several small lacerations on one cheek and a bruise in the shape of a hand print to a bicep. The victim reportedly stated her mother had caused the marks, while her brother said he saw Catron slap his sister and "pulling her by the lips."
The affidavit says that in another incident the girl suffered "two large burns" near her mouth, nose and chin. The victim's brother told police he had witnessed Catron push his sister to the floor, with an argument continuing through the hallway and towards the bathroom.
As Catron was using a hair straightening iron she allegedly pointed it at her daughter's face. The victim's brother reportedly told investigators he then heard his sister say, "Oh mom, you burnt me, stay away from me you burnt my lips."
KPD Det. Tommy Arnold say the delay in Catron's arrest is due to her fleeing her residence immediately following the incidents. She was booked Thursday into the Kingsport jail and expected to be arraigned Friday morning.
