Three charged in Kingsport home burglary

staff report • Dec 27, 2012 at 10:33 AM

Three people have been arrested in connection with a Dec. 12 home burglary on Rock Springs Road in Kingsport.

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office reports a neighbor of the victims observed an individual go through a window of the home while the residents were at work. A short time later that person reportedly came out the front door carrying a box, placed it in a vehicle and left the scene. Prior to the burglary a woman was allegedly spotted knocking on the front door.

Police contacted the residents who then checked their home, finding several guns had been stolen. Ashley Johnson, 24, of 365 Morelock Dr., Blountville, was developed as a suspect. Following an interview with Johnson investigators also tabbed two Kingsport residents as being involved in the incident; David Kaywood, 35, of 2020 East Center St., and Clifton "Hugo" Laughlin, 48, of 1608 C Street.

The SCSO reports all three suspects were arrested last week and charged with aggravated burglary and theft of more than $1,000.
