Nuclear Fuel Services announces two contracts worth $100 million

ERWIN — Nuclear Fuel Services announced Wednesday that it has been awarded two new contracts totaling more than $100 million from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Naval Reactors Laboratory Field Office.

The first contract includes the manufacture and delivery of fuel and support activities for the U.S. Naval Propulsion Program, an NFS release states. NFS has been the sole manufacturer of nuclear fuel for the Navy’s fleet of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines since 1964.

The second contract provides for the development of material for future Naval Reactors programs.
