TBI arrests former nurse at Sullivan County Jail

JOHNSON CITY — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested a former Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office jail nurse Wednesday after the 2nd Judicial District Attorney General requested TBI to investigate allegations against her in November 2011.

Chesna Hulsey, 33, of Kingsport, was arrested and charged with one count of official misconduct and one count of casual exchange.

In October 2011, while working as a nurse in the Sullivan County Jail, Hulsey gave a jail inmate valium while incarcerated in the jail without a physician’s prescription and was unauthorized to dispense the medication to the inmate.

Hulsey was terminated as a jail employee in November 2011.

Hulsey was booked into the Sullivan County Jail and released on a $5,000 bond.

She is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Thursday at 9 a.m.
