Man with nine probation violations gets 17 years

ELIZABETHTON — A man who was in Carter County Criminal Court on Thursday on numerous charges, including a ninth offense of violation of probation was ordered to serve 17 years in prison.Judge Jon Kerry Blackwood handed down the lengthy sentence to Enoch Paul Taylor, 34. The sentence includes the revocation of probation on a sentence on aggravated burglary; theft over $1,000; escape and failure to appear.Taylor had originally been sentenced to 14 years on the charges, but the sentence had been suspended and he had been placed on probation for 19 years.Probation Officer David Batchelder said Taylor had violated the terms of the probation by picking up new convictions and by absconding.
