21 individuals from region pick up meth-related charges after federal indictment

A federal grand jury in Greeneville returned a 16-count indictment last week charging 21 individuals, the majority of whom are from Unicoi County and all of whom are from communities in northeast Tennessee, with methamphetamine-related charges.Among the charges in the indictment, which was returned Sept. 11, are conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine; conspiracy to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine; distribution of methamphetamine; possession of equipment, chemicals and materials for manufacturing methamphetamine; and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense.“Local, state and federal law enforcement agents executed warrants early on September 17, 2012, and took many of these individuals into custody,” a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of Tennessee announcing the indictments said.Read the full story on the Johnson City Press Web site.
