Police have arrested a Virginia man after he allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl inside her family's camper at Warriors Path State Park.

According to a press release from the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, officers arrived to find the suspect being detained by the victim's parents. A court affidavit states the man, Wayne Michael Howlett, 22, of Petersburg, Va., told the girl he'd kill her and her family if she told anyone what had occurred — then greeted responding deputies with, "I am the one you want to take to jail."

The affidavit states the incident occurred Saturday within a camper owned by the victim's parents. At approximately 3 a.m. Howlett is alleged to have gotten out of his bed in the camper and shut a door that separated him and the victim from her sleeping mother. He then got into the victim's bed, according to the affidavit, and sexually assaulted her.

According to the victim's statements to police, Howlett threatened to kill her, himself and everyone in the camper if she told anyone what had happened. He then went back to his bed.

Police say they arrived at Warriors Path campground to find the victim's father detaining Howlett in the camper. Before the responding deputy asked Howlett any questions he reportedly stated, "I am the one you want to take to jail."

Howlett was arrested and transported to the Sullivan County jail. He was arraigned Tuesday morning with a court date set for July 12, and remains jailed on a $50,000 bond.
