East Tennessee man who killed 4 kittens in homemade video gets 6 months in jail

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A young Sevierville man who pleaded guilty to cruelty to animals in the killing of four kittens has been ordered to jail for more than six months.A two-year sentence was imposed upon Christopher Schneider on Monday by Sevier Circuit Judge Richard Vance — six months of which will be behind bars. A video of the 2010 killings was shown in court, according to The Mountain Press.The video shows Schneider, who was then 19, spraying a kitten with body spray and setting the animal on fire while shouting, "Die, kitty!" Two other kittens were tossed into the woods like baseballs, and a fourth was struck by a long piece of metal.Schneider was also ordered to pay a $3,000 fine and perform 150 hours of community service.A co-defendant will be sentenced next month, and charges against two boys stayed in Juvenile Court.Public defender Micaela Burnham says Schneider had an alcohol problem.
