A Kingsport man has been arrested after allegedly hitting a home with his van, then leaving his son at the scene as he drove away.

A police report says the suspect was later located and admitted to drinking, "about 30 beers," prior to the wreck.

Ronald Kinsler, 48, of 918 Independence Drive, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving.

According to the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred at about 9:40 Wednesday night. A deputy arrived at 329 Independence Drive to find the residence had been damaged. Police spoke with a man at the scene, identified as Kinsler's 22-year-old son, who said he was a passenger in his father's 1993 Chevrolet Astro when it struck the house.

The resident told police he was inside when he heard something hit his home, then went out to find a van driven by Kinsler. The resident also stated that the man who talked with police was a passenger. Meanwhile the driver, according to the resident, briefly exited the van before getting back in and driving away.

Police say they soon located Kinsler, though it does not specify where. He allegedly admitted to the drinking binge and was arrested, transported to the Sullivan County jail.
