A report at the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office says Alphard Adams, 67, of 784 Branch Road, was arrested Sunday morning. Police were called to his home at about 9:40 a.m.
One of the victim's reported meeting her sister at the home to do some cleaning. When they arrived their mother told them that Adams, her husband, had hit her in the face with a dish towel.
When the sisters confronted Adams about the alleged incident, according to the report, an argument ensued. The victims said Adams then went to a bedroom and retrieved a pistol, threatening to kill anyone who attempted to remove his wife from the home. Adams, with the gun in hand, is alleged to have then chased the sisters from the home.
When the reporting officer arrived at the residence Adams allegedly stepped out of the home with the pistol in his front pocket. He was arrested without incident and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of domestic assault and one count of going armed.
