A crash on East Center Street sent a four-year-old to the hospital with minor injuries on Thursday morning, while the driver of another vehicle was cited for running a red light.

According to Kingsport Police Officer Dale Farmer, the wreck occurred at about 8:30 a.m. A woman in a Pontiac Grand Am, with a four-year-old passenger in a child's seat, had received a green light to turn left onto Center Street from North Wilcox Drive.

As she entered the intersection a Ford Ranger pickup traveling west on Center Street allegedly ran the red light, crushing the passenger side of the Pontiac. Farmer said both drivers were unharmed, while the child escaped with only minor injuries.

Police interviewed several independent witnesses to the wreck who stopped at the scene. As a result the driver of the pickup, Benjamin Robinson, 32, of Pinola Avenue, Kingsport, was cited for running the red light.
