Three hospitalized in head-on Sullivan County collision

Three people had to be extricated from vehicles and transported for treatment following a Wednesday head-on collision in Sullivan County, leaving a 19-year-old in critical condition.

The wreck occurred at about noon on Bloomingdale Pike, near Idle Hour Road. According to Sullivan County Sheriff's Office deputy Joseph Bartlett, a Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling north when a southbound Honda Accord appears to have crossed the center line, causing the crash.

The occupants of the Cruiser are identified as Cecil Lawson and Alice Faye Lawson, each 69, of Kingsley Avenue, Kingsport. As of Wednesday afternoon they were listed in serious condition at Holston valley Medical Center.

Police say the Accord was driven by Chelsea Hall, 19, of Gravely Road, Kingsport. On Wednesday afternoon she was listed as being in critical condition.

Rescue personnel had to cut all three from their vehicles before transport by EMS to the hospital.

Police report the accident is under investigation with charged pending.
