Police say he was taken into custody after dialing 911 from a grocery and complaining of chest pains — though he'd refused medical treatment on three previous occasions.
Ronald Lamont Sanders, 37, of 443 Manville Road, Gate City, Va., has been charged with disorderly conduct. A Kingsport Police Department arrest report says the incident began at 6:20 a.m.
According to police, personnel at Holston Valley Medical Center reported Sanders had left the property against medical advice. Shortly thereafter EMS responded to the intersection of West Ravine Street and Cassell Drive, at the edge of the hospital property, where Sanders was complaining of chest pains.
The report says EMS then transported Sanders to Indian Path Medical Center. According to medical staff at that location, "Sanders always becomes violent and disorderly when he comes into the hospital."
Monday brought the same scenario, according to police, as Sanders once again became angry and left the emergency room, against medical advice. He then walked to the adjacent EMS station on Pavilion Drive, asking that they transport him to Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Police say EMS advised they wouldn't transport Sanders, as he was already on campus at a hospital. "Sanders became belligerent and started swearing at them," according to police, before walking back to the Indian Path ER.
The officer reports making contact with Sanders back at the hospital. He was allegedly belligerent at first, but calmed down to the point that hospital staff believed they could treat him.
The reporting office says that shortly after leaving the hospital he was notified that Sanders had once again left the area. A few minutes later, at approximately 10:25 a.m., central dispatch received a 911 call from a nearby grocery store, with the caller complaining of chest pains.
The officer reports responding to the location, where Sanders was found and once again became belligerent. Police say that due to Sanders disrupting operations at two medical treatment facilities, EMS services and the grocery store, he was arrested and transported to the city jail.
