A driver employed by Kingsport City Schools has been cited after allegedly pulling her bus in front of a car on Wednesday morning, resulting in a T-bone collision.

One student was aboard the bus when the wreck occurred, but there were no injuries reported from either vehicle.

The incident occurred at 6:26 a.m. on South Wilcox Drive, near Ward Place. A Kingsport police report says the bus was exiting private property on the shoulder of southbound traffic. It allegedly attempted to cross all lanes of traffic and enter the northbound lane, pulling into the path of a Mitsubishi Eclipse.

The Eclipse hit the driver's side of the school bus, according to the report, causing damage to the center and rear of the bus. The Eclipse was towed from the scene after suffering heavy front-end damage, while the bus was still operable.

Police cited the bus driver, Barbara Hickman, 65, of Kingsport, with failure to yield.

According to the school system's director of communications, Amy Greear, Kingsport City Schools are conducting their own investigation into the crash, with any potential actions against Hickman yet to be determined.
